You should definitely voice your suspicions. Do it openly, avoiding direct accusations, when they are sober and you are calm. The faster you act, the faster your child will be well again. Use community resources. Explore what could be going on in your child's emotional or social life that might prompt substance abuse. Make it easy for your teen to talk honestly with you.
Be a good role model, set a good example.
Talk with them about the facts, reasons not to drink, and ways to avoid it.
